Sunspot 798

Camera

Canon 20Da

Date 11 September 2005
Description This sunspot alone is responsible for making September 2005 the most active solar month since 1981. There were 9 X-class flares from this sunspot and some of them caused Northern Lights here. Picture taken with Canon 20Da through Barlow Bob's wonderful H-Alpha filtered telescope.
Processing Shot taken through the Bob-O-Scope in our backyard. This is a stack of 6 images from the Canon 20Da with a 4x Powermate.  Multiple images stacked to reduce the effect of Newtons Rings (a problem with the Canon 20Da taking pictures in H-Alpha). Images combined and sharpened in ImagesPlus. Color set and dust on sensor removed in PhotoshopCS.
